Malocclusion can be defined as "an abnormal occlusion in which the teeth are not in a normal position in relation to adjacent teeth in the same jaw and/or the opposing teeth when the jaws are closed". The opposite of malocclusion is considered as Ideal Occlusion, but the definition of the same has changed over the period of time and varies from author to author.
