This work is the summary of the author's Doctorate Thesis in Educational Psychology. It sought to investigate the relationship between literature and children's imagination and narrative through storytelling and to understand the contact they had outside the school context and how this was done. The results indicated that children enjoy listening to stories and interacting during these moments, encouraging them to use their imagination, leading them to think about the most diverse subjects, and making them critical when relating daily themes by understanding the context of the stories. It is possible to conclude that the results of this work can be considered as a support tool for teachers who work with children in this age group, showing them that storytelling contributes to the personal, emotional, and intellectual development of children. In addition, it highlights the importance of understanding the depth of these readings, specifically in Early Childhood Education, which was the setting for this work.
