The national cargoes of Vietnam have increased dramatically over the last few years. To meet the demand of freight transport, strategic attention has been paid to the development of intermodal transport and door- to- door services. Yet the current investments in this area are not up to their potential. On the other hand, very few local businesses are capable of providing a complete shuttle service. Based on a theoretical background, the empirical part examines the case chain in chronological order. Firstly, a sketching of the transport case and a brief description of freight forwarding ar-rangements are given. Next, aspects of the key terminals and modes are discussed. With the re-sources in place, port operations and hinterland practices will be elaborated on. At the end, a relative evaluation of the chain performance is given in terms of timing and freight rates, on a benchmarking basis. Despite the author's efforts, errors are unavoidable. However, this book is expected to a large extent to be helpful to those who seek for an optimal way to trade in Vietnam.
