In Laws and Play Cousins is a coming of age story that follows the lives of four friends, their careers and relationships over a span of eighteen years. During their childhood, one of the parents accidentally kills her husband and is incarcerated. Rocky romances and spurned relationships cause them to periodically refer back to the incident as they try to maintain emotional control of their lives. One of the girls, Nubia, becomes a successful screen writer and director with a volatile love life. While in college she is robbed and taken advantage of by a lover. Later she writes a screenplay about it as a fictional account and the movie catapults her to fame. Her friend and neighbor Tracie is a computer science expert who embraces the Internet at its public onset, and then becomes obsessed with its' capabilities to the point that she stalks a former lover and destroys his life. Tina and Eva are cousins who graduate from law school, with Tina working to appeal her incarcerated aunt's conviction, and Eva, the murderer's daughter, spending her days in promiscuity, inadvertently traumatized by the former chain of events. The friends stay in touch through exotic vacations, weddings and family events, but when Tracie, the computer expert goes too far with her cyber shenanigans, she is soon wanted by the FBI and goes on the run. She and her friends come up with creative ways to help her hide in France, and the story closes with a cliffhanger. Poignant and funny, In Laws and Play Cousins will have you giggling at the witty repartee while silently cheering for the bad guy.
