I was going to write a book about my fascinating and different experiences since moving to Spain, but then I thought 'Nah ' that's been done to death, and my friends out here would not read it, because to them, it's just everyday life. So what could I do? It took a while, but listening to two Brits sitting in a bar and complaining. "Don't they know English is the universal language?" It dawned on me, I could just as easily complain; I hope humorously about everything that, as a true Brit, I find difficult, bizarre, unfathomable, or just plain funny about living in another culture. That would be far more interesting, and fun to write about. Hence the title, Grumpy in Spain, was conceived. In the end I had to admit that unless I included the more, interesting or downright nasty events I have been involved with, and even how I came to be here, then the book would be rather short. So now it is just as much a 'look at what I have done' book as any other. In other words it is a complete mix, and would need a seriously good editor to sort it out. But what the heck, it was fun to write.
