This is an introductory monograph for engineers who are engaging fuel spray combustion. Liquid fuel atomization that is a dominant phenomenological event of spray combustion, has been received much attention for practical combustion equipment of liquid fuel. Various ways of liquid fuel atomization have been developed as the situation demands of liquid fuel utilization. Usually, liquid fuel spray is served separately from combustion air. Mixing of fuel spray and air, evaporation of fuel spray, local mixing of vaporized fuel and air, ignition, and combustion are taken place in the combustion equipment. Since compact combustion equipment is generally desired for heat utilization, smooth and quick combustion with low emission and less noise is the basic target of combustion technology development. For this development, more deep understandings of physics behind spray and its combustion are needed. In this monograph, physical approaches concerning spray flame are introduced based on author's around 40 years research works with helps of many literature references.
