A critical review of HRM issues Focus on effectiveness of HRM reforms in the public sector. The financial crisis of 2008, highlighted the importance of Human Resource Management (HRM) in the Greek public sector. The Greek Public Administration due to the large deficits has limited available resources and its services must improve in order to contribute to economic development.HRM, through its reform, has to play a catalytic role in achieving this objective. The reform of HRM, given the ongoing financial crisis and the need to drastically reduce public spending, is probably the most important challenge of the Greek Public Administration. The present study was conducted in order to investigate how public employees perceive HRM reforms and whether demographic differences affect employees' beliefs. The current reform and the role of the financial crisis are thoroughly analyzed in comparison to similar efforts in other countries.
