Melinda Frazier is just beginning to feel pretty good about life again. Then one morning she receives a phone call from her sister's phone, only there is a man on the other end. Kevin, Clara's dance partner, is calling to tell her Clara is in the hospital, injured in a fluke fall in the dance studio. Clara's knee requires surgery, and Melinda fears Clara's dance career may be finished before it could begin. An excellent surgeon is available for Clara, though, so Melinda makes plans to bring her sister home for recovery, praying that everything will be all right in the end. And it seems Kevin may have the answer for more than just Clara's dance career, as he finds a way for her to finish her college program and make a connection with the dance studio run by his grandmother. Melinda can only pray Clara will both recover fully and listen to this new young man in her life.

Daniel returns early from an overnight trip in time to help bring Clara back to the family home for her recovery following her surgery, and Melinda is relieved to have another set of shoulders to help carry the family's burdens. But Daniel greets her with a kiss, a new kind of kiss, which she returns wholeheartedly, though she is still uncertain about the feelings growing between them. When Connie interrupts their embrace, it becomes apparent that she, at least, is more than okay with the way Melinda and Daniel are together. Melinda still can't quite figure out what to do with all the feelings she has for Daniel, though, and learning he feels the same way about her seems to make things both easier and harder.
