Engineering Applications is a mechanical engineering reference for students and professionals who are interested in integrating statics and strength of materials principles for the purpose of mechanical design, enhanced with the use of MATLAB. There is hence a heavy emphasis on concepts, derivations and interpretations of general mechanical principles. Instruction in symbolic MATLAB calculation enhances the reader?s understanding of the fundamental principles behind statics and strength of materials and special attention is paid to the solution of selected problems closely related to the theory taught. This is done by providing well-designed, worked examples with their analytical and numerical solutions as well as symbolic and numerical MATLAB calculation.
