The experiment entitled, "Effect of different media and PGR on growth, flowering and cut flower yield of gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus) cv. Alcochete under protected condition" was carried out at Hi-Tech Horticulture Park, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during 2011-2012. The experiment was laid out in Factorial Completely Randomized Design (FCRD) with three replications and fifteen treatment combinations, comprising of five media viz., normal soil + rice husk + FYM (1:1:1) (M1), normal soil + coco peat + vermicompost (1:1:1) (M2), normal soil + sawdust + castor cake (1:1:1) (M3), normal soil + rice husk + coco peat + castor cake + vermicompost (1:1:1:1:1) (M4) and normal soil (M5) and three levels of gibberellic acid (GA3) i.e. GA3 @ 50 ppm (G1), GA3 @ 100 ppm (G2) and GA3 @ 150 ppm (G3). The media normal soil + rice husk + coco peat + castor cake + vermicompost (1:1:1:1:1) (M4) gave better performance for growth, flowering and yield parameters as compared to other media viz., M1, M2, M3 and M5. Similarly for treatment of gibberellic acid, the better performance observed in 100 ppm and 150 ppm GA3.
