Nicos Sykianakis is a professor of accounting at the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences, Department of Accounting and Finance. He has also taught at the Athens University of Economics and Business and at the Hellenic Open University. His Ph.D thesis explored FDI projects in the Balkans. Currently his academic interests focus on auditing and financial statement analysis.
Persefoni Polychronidou is an assistant professor of applied econometrics in accounting and finance at the Technological Educational Institute of Central Macedonia’s Department of Accounting and Finance. Her research focuses on statistical and data analysis and she has published numerous papers on empirical economic data.
Anastasios Karasavvoglou is a professor of economics and president of the annual international conference "The Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries in the Changing World". He has published numerous books and papers on immigration, regional development and the labour market.
The papers in this proceedings volume were presented at the 9th international conference “The Economies of the Balkan and Eastern European Countries in the Changing World” (EBEEC) held in Athens, Greece, in April 2017. They include the scientific results of research on current issues relevant for the wider area of Eastern Europe. Authors from 30 different countries develop new ideas, covering topics such as international economies, European integration, the economic crisis, macroeconomics, banking, stock markets, education, energy, innovation, and marketing. The contributions also examine the role of the economies of the Balkan and Eastern European countries in a pan-European context.
