The narrator, the wise Miscuati, explains the determining role played by Collective Memory as the true engine of our progress and development, emphasizing the key role played by a knowledge of the past in the genesis of present and future behavior and solutions, and the importance of "respect for others" and "individual freedom" as essential conditions for the growth of a group and its affirmation.
