The term career does not correspond to the simple term as it used to be in the past when the employees job and career were guaranteed after graduation and first employment. Career development distinguishes two main factors; career planning (as involved with the individual) and career management (as involved with the organisation). Process of career development is carried out through different stages which are related to the employees professional and personal life. Empirical part of this work presents Croatian results related to career development among graduates in Economics. It can be concluded that they do not differ from each other among different Croatian counties regarding seven different researched factors. Some differences are noticed just regarding two researched factors. Concluding this work, it can be noticed that more attention to career and its development should already be paid during the education process, as well as through the apprenticeship stage where mangers should lead, coach, mentor and counsel the newly employed. Finally, Croatian companies have to be more oriented toward the organization of human resource departments then they are used to.

Dr. Ivana Tadi has obtained her Master degree at Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2005 and her PhD degree at Faculty of Economics, University of Split, Croatia in 2011. During her work, she has participated at various international conferences presenting and publishing her work from the field of Human Resource Management.
