Their quest takes them back into the Roma's origins, from the time they were forced to flee their ancestral lands of Northern India. The heroine of the story, who discovers the gifts and curses of her unique talents when a gypsy, or Roma, clan comes to town. Her awakening happens with the association of an old Roma Shuvano who recognizes her exceptionality. She experiences discrimination and exultation, doubts and triumphs as she transforms from an innocent teenager in a sleepy English country town into a powerful Roma Shuvani.
