The work is devoted to the study of the level of pollution of the working environment by harmful substances, the nature and extent of its impact on human health. It is based on the results of a study of the production of the cardiovascular drug amiodarone, the synthesis of which produces a number of intermediates derived from benzofuran. An important aspect of such studies is the identification of changes in the body formed by exposure to toxicants which may subsequently lead to the development of occupational or production-related pathology. Benzofuran derivatives containing iodine atoms in their molecule have been shown to be the most dangerous to humans. It is established that the main ways of possible penetration of benzofuran derivatives into the body under production conditions are oral and inhalation. The sensitizing, immuno- and embryotoxic properties have been investigated, the cumulative properties of substances have been determined. Hygienic standards of benzofuran derivatives in the air of working area and hazard coefficient of amiodarone at inhalation exposure have been determined.
