Constructions of authorship and their historical development in medieval epic texts can be described via the author s name and its linguistic context. This study explores types of discourse in German medieval literature to designate authorship in contrast to French literature and presents linguistic images of authors in case studies. The conventional and standardized discourses, e.g. with tihten, are compared to how individual authors are presented, which is preferably in the context of oral recitation."
