Our opening character, Bill Saunders, has planned a relaxing day fishing. In addition to a couple of salmon he manages to catch something that certain people expected to be disposed of in a way that it would never be seen again. When Bill begins his own investigation into what he has caught he soon realizes it is time to involve the police. Before the story is over Bill's catch will come back to haunt him. The chase to track down the bad guys takes the reader from Portland, Oregon to Southern California and back again and involves the frustrations and triumphs of police work. Detective Andy Bjornsohn, family man, heads up the investigation, but depends on a lot of people along the way. The characters that wander in and out of the story are the people that inhabit the neighborhoods of any American city. Some are the people that the reader would welcome as a friend or neighbor, and some are not. The emotions portrayed are as varied as the characters that bring them into the story. Fear, greed, revenge, humor and love add the personal touch that will draw the reader in. In the end good triumphs over bad as two of the characters rise above their ordinary lives and do what needs to be done.
