This research aims to propose the use of a quality management system based on ISO 9001:2015© as a tool that can contribute to academic improvement in the Ruben Dario School in the city of Manta, Ecuador, which allowed the establishment of specific objectives, which were achieved through field research through the application of techniques such as surveys to teachers and authority. The results of the field research were subjected to analysis and theoretical debate under the guidelines and directives of ISO 9001-2015, after which the respective conclusions were established. On the other hand, we proceeded to carry out the process of validation of results, reaching the conclusion that, in the Rubén Darío Educational Unit, there are some deficiencies, policies and objectives, a vision and mission that are not clearly defined and are unknown by an important part of the staff existing inadequate processes that affect the academic area.
