On The Seventh Day She Rested is a comedy about a Beverly Hills housewife who decides that God, as we know Him, is not doing a very good job, so she applies for the position. Which, it turns out, is not such a far-fetched idea. She learns that God was female before He was ever a fellow. And, she discovers, her own Commandments actually work. Especially for her hairdresser who becomes her first "d'votie." The story casts a hilarious gynocratic eye on sex, money, power, marriage or the lack of it, motherhood, death and dying, drugs, abortion, being gay, and - oh yes - love. It revisits the ancient past and imagines the near future, but mostly it centers on I-Me-Mine society here in the excessive lane, taking the point of view that no matter who God is, we humans need to do better. I wish I could send you an ice cold beverage, a hammock, and a breezy summer afternoon as background for your reading. But since that doesn't seem to be an option, I'll simply hope to hand you some pretty big laughs and maybe even a tear or two.
