Weird stories are circulating that are dismissed by the local police. Then the third victim, a female student, goes awol from the local mortuary. Suddenly zombies are everywhere as the plague gets worse by the day. This is a case for Jason Hawk, paranormal investigator. Barricaded in a University building he awaits a call from the local Mayor and he escapes in a helicopter just in time. At a mansion on the outskirts of the city, he joins the few known survivors. What is needed is information. Someone has to go back into Sheffield and return to the epicentre of the horror - the Victorian cemetery. Jason volunteers, thinking that zombies only come out at night. Amidst the gravestones and long-forgotten tombs, he finds otherwise. Sheffield serves as a good setting and it's obvious John has a good knowledge of the locality featured in the story. I could almost smell the stench coming from the rotting corpses and still don't know how Jason could bring himself to climb into a coffin. Uurrgh. Not to read just before you go to sleep (which I did). You will quite likely have nightmares. Richard Benson on Amazon Kindle version.
