Firmly rooted in the natural world, his work falls between dream and dream; it probes "the great unsolved love" with the opening up, through subtle modulations, of "concrete words."

Tomas Tranströmer, geboren 1931 in Stockholm, lebt in Västeras / Schweden. Er gilt als der bedeutendste schwedische Lyriker der Gegenwart, seine Gedichte wurden in mehr als dreißig Sprachen übersetzt. 2011 wurde er mit dem Nobelpreis für Literatur ausgezeichnet. Tomas Tranströmer verstarb im März 2015. Robin Fulton wurde auf Arran, einer Insel im Südwesten Schottlands, geboren. Die Familie des Vaters stammte vom Grenzgebiet zwischen England und Schottland und aus Edinburgh, die der Mutter aus Sutherland und Caithness. Er besuchte die Grundschule auf der Insel Arran und in Glasgow, ging in Sutherland aufs Gymnasium und studierte an der Universität Edinburgh. Nach dem Studium zog er nach Stavanger, Norwegen, wo er bis heute mit seiner Frau lebt. Robin Fulton veröffentlichte eine Vielzahl von Poesie- und Essaybänden. Von 1967 bis 1976 gab er die Zeitschrift Lines Review und deren Buchreihe heraus. Bekannt ist er nicht nur als außergewöhnlicher Dichter, sondern auch als herausragender Übersetzer skandinavischer Lyrik ins Englische.
