This book consists mainly of letters, more than three hundred, some appearing in print or on-line, the majority not, I have written, 1961-2014, to the editor of The New York Times, strongly criticizing the editorial board's positions on ethical-moral personal and social issues of supreme importance to all members of our society. When The Times sets forth its position on issues such as human life and its value, the nature of man, human sexuality, marriage the family and the exigencies of religious freedom, it almost always presents the secularist view - a new religion or a substitute religion or an ideology, which makes man the center of existence and the supreme master of his life and destiny, where the state is the source of rights, the criteria of evaluation in human affairs are natural experimental science, pragmatism, human desire, maximum freedom and evolving public opinion. Contesting this emerging worldview is that of our national heritage illumined, as it is, by the natural moral law and the Judaeo-Christian spiritual framework of our civilization. This latter and prior worldview indeed stresses the preeminence of man but now as God's Creation whose basic rights and their borders are His gift and norm discoverable by reason illumined by divine revelation.
