The Oxford Handbook of Victorian Literary Culture is a major contribution to the dynamic field of Victorian studies. Juliet John is Hildred Carlile Chair of English Literature and Director of the Centre for Victorian Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London. She has published widely on Victorian literature and culture. Her books include Dickens's Villains: Melodrama, Character, Popular Culture (Oxford University Press, 2001; paperback 2003), Dickens and Mass Culture (Oxford University Press, 2010; paperback 2013) and most recently, Reading and the Victorians (Ashgate, 2015), which she co-edited with Matthew Bradley. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Oxford Bibliographies: Victorian Literature.
