Most of the quality and management problems are due to the existence of variation. All defects and non-conformities would have vanished if variation would have eliminated. The present study was carried out at Birdi Cycle Industries, Ludhiana which was earlier facing the harsh realities of competitive environment because of its high rejection rate. It was done in two stages. In first stage, the tools and techniques required for achieving different Sigma Levels were implemented and desired Sigma Level was achieved. In second phase Six Sigma was successfully implemented by using DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve & Control) Methodology.

Dr. Gazal Preet Arneja is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus, Ferozepur since 1998. He is Ph.D., M. Tech. and B.Tech in Industrial Engg. He is also the recipient of Green Belt Six Sigma Award.
