But, in addition, the question is answered: Is it correct to use the term refugee? Therefore, arguments about the incorrect use of the term "refugee" are presented. In fact, the theory is presented that the term "refugee" should no longer be used to refer to people fleeing their countries of origin in search of international protection for fear of losing their lives, as stated in the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol.

Alfredo Jose Lopez Severiche holds a PhD in social sciences and public policy from the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. He also holds a master's degree in international communication and a master's degree in international development. His research interests are refugee and immigrant studies, Latin American studies and quality of life.
