This book is about Problems of Primary Education among the Yanadi a Scheduled Tribe in Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh, India. Education is a harmonious development of the individual in the context of the community to which he/she belongs. Education is related to culture. Educational Anthropology has developed out of this understanding. The primary concern of this book, to examine the enrollment, absenteeism and dropouts, to understand opinion and attitudes of parents towards school education and in sending/not sending their children to school, to make suggestions to enhance the participation of children in primary education among the Yanadis, is one of the 35 STs in Andhra Pradesh having with very low levels of literacy. The main thrust is laid on local traditions, knowledge, practices and institutions the people have developed in course of time in utilizing their resources and shaping their children education and associated strategies. Hence, this book is more comprehensive and presents holistic understanding of the problems of primary education to achieve the goal of Universal Elementary Education, envisaged by the Parliament of India through Right to Education Act.

Devendrakumar, ChallaMr. Challa Devendra Kumar doing Ph.D. in the Department of Anthropology He did extensive field work in tribal areas and has much interest in tribal education.
