. . . it has a splendid breadth and grandeur which choirs will enjoy. Much of the writing is unison, the main melody has a striking strength and nobility, and it is only in the Magnificat refrain that it breaks into harmony. This setting can be sung by choirs with limited resources (perhaps even with congregational participation), and it will sound splendid with brass on the big occasion.
