The third fascicle of the first part of volume 3 of Athanasius' Works continues the publication of documents relating to the history of the Arian conflict, carrying on the work started by Hans-Georg Opitz in 1934 and 1935.
The fascicle contains inter alia the texts from the Synods of Antioch 326/27, Jerusalem 335, Rome and Antioch 338-341 and the Ekthesis makrostichos; it is accompanied by a detailed introduction on the chronology of the beginnings of the Arian heresy, a German translation of the documents already published, and a bibliography and reference index.

It is only through certain forms of social use that media become "Media of collective memory." The phenomenon of a "Remembrance film," too (e.g. Das Leben der Anderen, Hotel Ruanda, On connait la chanson ) only comes about in a plurimedial context with its incorporation into a complex systemic media network that makes it into a remembrance film through various forms of reference. The volume analyses film using the methodology of studies in cultural memory to reveal the functioning of these constellations.

In the period from 1268 to 1271 the Church was without a Head; for nearly three years, the cardinals were unable to agree on a successor for the deceased Pope Clemens IV. The study examines the causes and effects of the longest sede vacante in the history of the Church up to the present day. What split the College of Cardinals above all was the territorial political rivalries between the Italian cardinals. Nonetheless, the cardinals were able to agree on common action in the administration of the Papal States, on the appointment of bishops and the despatch of Papal Legates.
