The writings are organized into sections on radical journalism; political economy; atheism; nation and state; race and empire; gender; and literary institutions.

This series collects together criticism on major figures in literature, presenting responses to a particular writer and enabling the student to follow the formation of critical attitudes to the writer's work and its place within literary tradition.

The Collected Critical Heritage II comprises 40 volumes covering 19th and 20th century European and American authors.
