Images and words of peace by primary and elementary school students of Shining Stars Montessori Academy Public Charter School of Washington, DC, 2014-2015. The students of five 2014-2015 classes: Angelou Stars, Bethune Stars, Gandhi Stars, Montessori Stars, and Keller Stars, each creates a colorful page with words evoking peace.

The computer tale is not the story, however. The technician got me to thinking about our rock collection. My wife was as much culprit as me. Where did the sculpture, paintings, oil, watercolor, and charcoal begin? Where had the seed of an interest in art, and collecting been planted? I was startled at first because I could remember nothing in my childhood, school, or even junior college that might have infected me with a desire to collect rocks and other objects of art. Hell, I did not even collect marbles like every other boy. My best guess was World War II.

A happy little straw man teaches the reader a new word...."Jollyskadoodleiday..". Which he uses to describe "the best day you could ever have." The story teaches that we are blessed each day in so many ways, and we should never take our natural blessings for granted. The words to the story are actually a song...and if the reader should so desire...a free link to the internet is provided. There you may listen to the song and watch a video as the magical straw man sings and dances. Your spirits will be lifted and your eyes and ears entertained. The Shoephabet is an artistic alphabet book that gives its reader the opportunity to see the ordinary (shoes) in unusual ways (the shapes of letters).
