The ancient Greek commentaries that were preserved on papyrus have previously been published in scattered works. This corpus is unique in the academic world in that it presents these texts in collected form. The entire work is divided into four main sections: Pars I Commentaria et lexica in auctores; Pars II Commentaria in adespota; Pars III Lexica; Pars IV Concordantiae et Indices.

Surrender is the personal story of James L. Starnes during World War II. On September 2, 1945, navigator Starnes served as the Officer of the Deck on the battleship USS Missouri from 0800 to 1200 for the surrender ceremony of Japan to the Allies ending the war.

Grammatical index of the urban Roman inscriptions published in CIL VI, Parts 1-3. 4, Fasc. 1-3. 8, Fasc. 2-3. Apart from grammatical phenomena, account is also taken of stonemasons' errors and striking writing habits. The irregular forms can be looked up in three indexes- an alphabetically arranged index of the irregular forms, an index of words and names for which irregular forms exist arranged alphabetically by headword, and an index arranged by subject groups of the type to be found in the grammatical indexes to other volumes in the CIL series. In each case, the indexes are selective.

The series was founded in 1896. it is dedicated to rare Greek and Latin texts together with translations and commentaries, as well as detailed introductions, so rendering them more accessible to a broader readership. Since 2000 the series has concentrated on "Homer's Iliad. A full commentary," presenting the text of the Iliad (by M. L. West), a translation (by J. Latacz) and a commentary in German.
