Mit dem vorliegenden Nachtrags- und Registerband wird das Lexikon deutsch-judischer Autoren (Bd. 1, 1992 bis Bd. 20, 2012) abgeschlossen. Der Band enthalt Beitrage zu weiteren ca. 15 Autoren, darunter Saul Ascher, Rudolf Borchardt und Ernst Hans Gombrich. Daruber hinaus bietet der Band umfassende Register fur das gesamte Lexikon: Geburts- und Todesortregister, Wirkungsort- und Berufsregister sowie Kriegsteilnahme- und Deportationsregister.

Es gehort zu den Aufgaben der Lessing-Akademie, unter Berucksichtigung der vielgestaltigen Kontakte von Deutschen und Juden auch komplizierte oder umstrittene Probleme deutsch-judischer Geschichte des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts zur Diskussion zu stellen. Solcher Vorgabe entspricht die Intention dieses Bandes, in dem Ergebnisse einer gemeinsamen Tagung der Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities und der Lessing-Akademie versammelt sind. Schwerpunkte der Beitrage bilden insbesondere geistige Begegnungen und Auseinandersetzungen, Widerstande und Annaherungen.

Anlalich des 200. Todestages von Moses Mendelssohn 1986 fuhrte die Lessing-Akademie in Wolfenbuttel ein Symposium mit in- und auslandischen Gelehrten durch. Die Tagungsergebnisse werden in diesem Band vorgelegt. Die breitgefacherte Themenwahl zu theologischen, philosophischen, historischen und literarischen Fragen sollen ein Bild von den vielfaltigen Bezugen vermitteln, in denen der bedeutendste judische Denker der deutschen Aufklarung zu sehen ist. Pesahim introduces the prescriptions regarding Passover; Yoma covers regulations related to Yom Kippur, especially the role of the Kohen Gadol and the order of services.
