The southeastern Land of Seven Rivers (Kazakhstan) - a small region in the Eurasian steppes - shows an enormous concentration of Bronze and early Iron Age archeological monuments, only a small fraction of which have been described by researchers. This study, the first comprehensive investigation of these monuments, also makes an important contribution to knowledge about the historical - cultural evolution of the region.

Der Band umfasst die spatantiken Inschriften des 4.-6.Jh. n.Chr. aus Korinth und Umgebung, vor allem Grabinschriften, aber auch kaiserliche Reskripte, Weihungen und Invokationen. Die grosse Zahl der Inschriften belegt eindrucksvoll die fuhrende Stellung Korinths auf der Peloponnes in dieser Zeit. Der Band enthalt neben den kommentierten Texten (darunter 117 inedita) ausfuhrliche Indices und Abbildungen aller noch vorhandenen Inschriften.

The publication of Winckelmann's Geschichte der Kunst des Altertums in 1764 is considered as the defining moment in the genesis of the modern, scientific study of sculpture. It was a formalist and secular history, concentrating on the statue as a work of art, and studying sculpture in a museum setting, abstracting from its original religious, social or political functions. Other 17th- and 18th-century authors tried to understand those functions and why statues so often excited violent reactions ranging from adoration to abuse.

45 Jahre nach dem Corpus der Inschriften der makedonischen Stadt Thessaloniki (IG X 2, 1, ed. Charles Edson, 1972) erscheint der erste Teil der Supplemente zu diesem Band. Er enthalt die zwischen 1960 und 2015 neu gefundenen Inschriften aus der antiken Stadt und ihrem Territorium. Von den etwa 650 Inschriften werden hier knapp 200 erstmals ediert.
