The cities of this world furnish an inexhaustible number of impressions and images. Artist Detlef Waschkau has made the city into his subject - as a resident, flaneur and traveller - and placed it centrally in his artistic oeuvre. His works, which oscillate between sculpture and painting, are the result of numerous painterly and sculptural stages that mesh together like cogs during the production process.
