Jose M. Alonso-Sed was born in Santa Clara, Cuba. During the 1960s he lived in the United States where he received a bachelors of arts degree from Whitworth College. Afterwards, he completed his Masters and PH.D. degrees in Canada, where he spent twenty years teaching Spanish at several universities. Since 1987 he lives in southern California and teaches at San Diego State University and other colleges. At the present time, he is a writer and a civil law paralegal.
