Adequate resuscitation of shock early in the Emergency Department (ED) is essential to ensure improved patients outcome. The conventional end-points of resuscitation used are inadequate to determine systemic perfusion and oxygenation. Serum lactate is a more reliable endpoint of resuscitation.
