Die Fabaceae bilden eine der größten Familien der Angiospermen mit weltweit verbreiteten Vertretern, die in drei Unterfamilien (Caesalpinioideae, Mimosoideae und Faboideae) und 36 Tribus unterteilt sind. Floristische und taxonomische Arbeiten weisen die Fabaceae als eine der repräsentativsten Familien in Waldformationen aus. In diesem Buch werden drei neue Nachweise für Maranhão und ein neuer Nachweis für den Nordosten Brasiliens vorgestellt. Es wurden Bestimmungsschlüssel, Beschreibungen und Abbildungen aller untersuchten Arten erstellt.

Fabaceae is one of the largest families of angiosperms, with representatives widely distributed throughout the globe, represented by three subfamilies (Caesalpinioideae, Mimosoideae and Faboideae) and 36 tribes. Floristic and taxonomic studies indicate Fabaceae as one of the most representative families in forest formations. This book presents three new records for Maranhão and one new record for the Northeast. Identification keys, descriptions and images of all species studied were prepared.
