This paper examines the influence of beliefs on the migration histories of the Hungarian minority in Austria. Based on theoretical findings from the fields of migration, acculturation, communication, cultural identity, cognitive dissonance and developmental psychology, the study uses migration and acculturation processes as examples to highlight the significance of reality constructions, how and why they change, and what opportunities they offer individuals in social systems. The hypotheses developed were examined through group discussions.

Le présent travail examine l'influence des croyances sur les histoires migratoires de la minorité hongroise en Autriche. À partir de connaissances théoriques issues des domaines de la migration, de l'acculturation, de la communication, de l'identité culturelle, de la dissonance cognitive et de la psychologie du développement, l'exemple des processus de migration et d'acculturation permet de mettre en évidence l'importance des constructions de la réalité, comment et pourquoi elles changent et quelles possibilités elles offrent aux individus dans les systèmes sociaux.
