The research was conducted in the municipality of Lábrea-AM, as it was the city chosen by former President José Sarney for the launch of the hepatitis B vaccine, due to the major outbreak that the city had suffered during the 1970s to 1990s, with the loss of many lives to the disease. The situation was so serious that Lábrea was given the name of a specific disease due to hepatitis B, the Black Fever of Lábrea. Therefore, the work presents a historical basis, with the theme related to the proliferation of hepatitis B in the municipality of Lábrea Amazonas, between 1985 and 1995.
