At the tender age of 19 the Hamburg-based Impressionist Thomas Herbst had already established his goal as an artist: "To successfully paint from nature, in other words landscapes and animals, that will be the greatest achievement for me." The catalogue raisonne of his paintings, oil sketches and watercolors, featuring numerous reproductions of the more than 1000 works of art, is published on the occasion of the one-hundred-year anniversary of his death.
