The Basilica of St Servatius, the oldest surviving church in the Netherlands andone of the 100 most important national monuments, was built on the site where the missionary bishop Servatius was buried in the 4th century. The current churchdates largely from the 11th and 12th centuries and is an important example of Romanesque architecture. The monumental ensemble also includes the cloisters withthe monastery garden (Pandhof), the double chapel housing the Treasury, andthe Chapel of St Servatius.
