The primary mission of the FAA is to ensure civil aviation safety. The FAA has the responsibility to certify, monitor, and regulate the safety and operations of the civil aviation sector, including airlines, general aviation, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), airports, commercial space transportation, repair stations, and aircraft manufacturers, as well as establish licensing and training requirements for pilots and other aviation related professionals.
