Little has been written about the Adali (Ada) clan of Ghana, and much of this is scattered among various publications on Ghana and official documents of the British colonial administration. The author has drawn on this information to produce the first coherent and readable study of the Ada. He covers in detail the history of the clan, their political and social institutions, economic activities, wars with neighbours, reaction to British colonialism, disputes over the Songor region and disputes over leadership.
