Located in the northern tip of Kentucky and fortuitously bordered by rivers on two sides, Newport has flourished for over 200 years. Col. James Taylor of Caroline County, Virginia, received a military grant for 1,500 acres, and his son Hubbard selected and surveyed a tract of wilderness along the Ohio River.
