Chalcones and 1,5-benzothiazepines derived from 4-isobutyl acetophenone having a variety of pharmacophores could be successfully synthesized in good yield, purified, and characterized by spectral studies. These compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities.
