Knowing the profile and needs in terms of user demand makes it possible to develop strategies and actions aimed at improving health care services. The main objective of this study was to analyse the care profile of patients treated at the "Manoel de Sousa Santos" Regional Hospital in the municipality of Bom Jesus, in the state of Piauí, identifying whether the patient profile is appropriate for the centre or whether it falls within the scope of basic care. This is a quantitative study based on descriptive documentary analysis, in which the data was extracted from the hospital's database.
