Nature conservation has been the subject of growing social concern as the processes of industrialisation and urbanisation have accelerated. One of the areas in which environmental concerns have been channelled has been the protection of certain areas from economic growth and the protection of areas with rare and exceptional natural values, which have contributed to creating favourable conditions for future generations to enjoy these values without jeopardising the development of the present.

In dem Maße, in dem sich die Industrialisierung und Verstädterung beschleunigt haben, ist der Naturschutz Gegenstand wachsender gesellschaftlicher Besorgnis geworden.
