In transplanted rice- rice cropping system the weeds could be effectively and economically managed by pre-emergence application of pretilachlor with a follow up hand weeding at 45 DAT. Other herbicides like butachlor or anilofos or Rifit, the already registered formulations are comparable with pretilachlor. Thus, pre-emergence application of new formulation of pretilachlor at specified dose is found to be best alternate for the existing rice herbicides for effective and economic control of weeds in transplanted rice-rice cropping system.
