Orthodontic instruments can be one of the possible source of cross infection if they are used without sterilisation. However, for economic considerations also , they may be reused after proper sterilization. The sterilization should be effective enough to prevent infection among patients. There are various methods of sterilising orthodontic instruments. This review was undertaken to compare and evaluate the efficiency of different sterilisation methods for orthodontic instruments.
