The elderly population is exposed to an increased risk of falls. With demographic ageing, falls and their consequences for people, the health care system and the economy are expected to increase. The knowledge of the risk and risk factors for falls allows for a targeted multifactorial intervention, contributing to an active and healthy ageing. Falls can be prevented through community intervention projects, which should include, as a priority, elderly people at high risk of falling.

Die ältere Bevölkerung ist einem erhöhten Risiko von Stürzen ausgesetzt. Mit der demografischen Alterung werden Stürze und ihre Folgen für die Menschen, das Gesundheitssystem und die Wirtschaft voraussichtlich zunehmen. Die Kenntnis des Risikos und der Risikofaktoren für Stürze ermöglicht eine gezielte multifaktorielle Intervention und trägt so zu einem aktiven und gesunden Altern bei. Stürze können durch kommunale Interventionsprojekte verhindert werden, die vorrangig ältere Menschen mit hohem Sturzrisiko einbeziehen sollten.
